A few months ago, a life long friend of mine Kristin had posted a photo on Instagram with the caption explaining how she just had purchased $300 round trip tickets to Hawaii. Seeing it as another possibility to travel, I immediately texting her asking her how she got the tickets and if I could possibly tag along. She replied saying that I could totally come.
So.... $300 spent later I had my ticket to paradise.
On October 19th we were on the plane with only a backpack full of clothes and toothbrushes, headed to the beautiful island of Oahu. When I was about 14 I visited Oahu with my family but oddly I didn't really remember it all too well. So I was really excited to travel back with Kristin and he friend Addy because they had lived there for a couple years for school.
Upon arriving their really good friend Julia picked us up from the airport in her little beat up green Volvo. We then stayed with her in her little house on the North Shore.
Julia was one hell of a girl. She is so sweet and considerate and just all around an amazing friend. I'm really happy I was able to meet her and become friends with her.
The first night of sleep, I woke up with about 20 bug bites on each arm.... no exaggeration. I could not stop scratching them, which made them more red and ugly! It was so irritating but we went to the store to get some bug spray which solved the problem about 70%. So I was happy.
Poke bowls, Teds Bakery, walking, hiking, laying under the sun (and rain), almost drowning in the shorbreak haha.. that pretty much describes our week in Hawaii. Rain or shine we HAD to have our beach days.
What I really loved about the north shore is that everyone was so easy going. We hardly wore shoes anywhere, we showed up to restaurants covered in salt water and sandy bums, and nobody cares! That's just how it is there.
I could definitely get used to that.
On our last day, I was able to shoot with Jessica Sullivan (@jessicasulls). It was a little rushed getting to the location and I didn't have a lot to do my hair and make up, since I had only packed a backpack of stuff. So, I showed up sunburnt, covered in bug bites, salty-sandy unwashed hair, and hardly any make up. But somehow with Jessica's INCREDIBLE photography skills, we were able to get the most amazing photos!
In all honesty, these are some of my favorite photos to date. I'm so glad I was able to meet Jessica. She is such a sweetheart!
I already miss everyone I became friends with on the island and I want to come back as soon as I'm able.
See you again soon Oahu! ❤️️
